Give up being a pick me and become a Nubian Shorty
I know, the term Pick Me never applies to you right? Well here at Nubian Shorties Night Out we’re doing some mirror work. We’re looking ourselves dead in the eyes and putting an end to all pick our ways. Don’t know what a pick me is? Then how do you even know if you’re portraying very pick me behavior? This is our sister circle. We’re here to help.
10 WAYS YOU EXHIBIT PICK ME BEHAVIOR
1. You shape your thoughts and actions only to seem more attractive to the male gaze.
Let’s be clear if you’re a heterosexual women, as trifling as it feels we actually like these niggas. So of course we do things to look more attractive: putting on a push up bra, wearing our best ass jeans, etc. What separates the pick mes from the Nubian Shorties is that we don’t do things to be in competition with other women. So adding a caption that says, “Your Girl Could Never” or “He Was Just In My DMs” is pick me behavior and quite frankly corny. Also, stay away from thinking your cooking or cleaning skills are what separates you from the pack. You’re just more than likely going to find yourself with a man that has a full belly while he cheats.
2. Believing your sexual behavior makes you more “wife” worthy and/or shaming other women for their choices.
Think that low “body count” makes you the almost virgin mary. It doesn’t but, before I even get into why it’s silly can we touch on how weird it is for anyone to even ask that question? How does that conversation even come up? Does he ask right after sex, how many other men you’ve had sex with or before the deed is done? Either way it is none of his or anyone else’s business. The only question that should be asked is do you practice sex safely. So keep sleeping with your trifling forever man because you want to keep your “body count” low before you find your husband. Please remember, though, that’s your cross to bear not ours. We’re living our lives…but again safely.
3. On the other side of that coin, you’re overly sexual only when men are around
Right now at Sunday dinner you want to talk about how you do handstands in bed. I support women’s sexuality, I do, but we all know what you’re doing when the conversation leads to what you do in comparison to what she doesn’t. Pick me behavior.
4. Always reinforcing how all you do is stay in the house and work/study.
Introverts exists but are you an introvert or do you just want to perceived as the humble that’s better than the “club girl”. If you didn’t already know I’m the girl that’s out a lot. Which means I’m probably out with your future husband right now, not mine. So get your ass out the house and come meet this nigga so I don’t have to waste anymore of my time. Respectfully Queen.
5. Having dumb ass pseudo deep thoughts about the black community that reinforce dumb ass patriarchy.
Not going to explain but gay men are destroying the black family and having multiple baby mothers isn’t? Ok, I explained a little bit but thoughts like that, just no.
I’m also adding women who repeat and thoroughly believe all men cheat, as a result of nature. Quick question, you do know women are the same species right? Also their behavior is encouraged because for men it’s socially acceptable to be sexual conquerors while women must remain the loyal humble wives. Society made this behavior normalized not nature. Moral of the story, when a man cheats on you, you should definitely cheat back…I mean find someone better.
